Costs
The ICYBA and Pilgrim Lanes pay for most tournament fees, including the Massachusetts
State Tournament, the International Candlepin Youth Championships (Portsmouth, NH), and the Junior Bowling Classic (Nova Scotia,
Canada). During the annual trip to Canada, we also pick up the tab for 2 breakfasts, one lunch, and 2 dinners for the entire
group. The ICYBA also pays for all snacks for the busses that are not donated, and donuts, juice, and coffee at the tournament.
***These food and drink tabs are paid ONLY if enough funds are raised. If the
ICYBA cannot afford to pay for such costs, they may not do so (at the director and treasurer's discretion)***
To help defray these miscellaneous expenses as well as the cost of the Canada
trip itself (transportation, lodging, etc) all ICYBA members pay a $2.00 per week dues fee (*even if he/she is not present
for league bowling). An ICYBA member is defined as a child who pays the weekly dues and participates in either the Youth
Candlepin Championships in Portsmouth, NH, the Junior Bowling Classic in Nova Scotia, Canada, or both.
Any ICYBA member who makes the trip to Canada is required to raise $350 per child.
This includes the cost of one parent as well. Any additional parents who wish to come, may do so for a smaller additional
fee. Families with more than one child in the program do not have to pay the full $350 per child, they receive a discount,
so it won't cost an arm and a leg for more than 1 child to participate!
Fundraising
The ICYBA holds many fundraising opportunities throughout the year. There are
general fundraisers as well as individual fundraisers:
- Bowl-a-thon
- This is a one day event that occurs twice a year. Kids find sponsors, who can
either pay a flat donation or a certain amount per pin. The child bowls their bowl-a-thon during their regular league play,
and the amount of pins they knock down in their 3 games times the amount per pin they were sponsored is collected. This is
a great fundraiser because it's easy to get sporsors, and 100% of the money raised goes directly into the child's account
towards their $350 trip fee!
- Candy Bar Sales
- The kids sell candy bars for $1.00 per bar. The bars come in boxes of 40 and
are assorted with 4 types: crispy, caramel, peanut butter, and almond. For each box that they sell, they receive 1/2 of the
money for their account ($20.00). This is an easy way to raise money (and give people their chocolate fix!)
- Lottery Tree Christmas Raffle
- This is a raffle which kids sell tickets for a price of 3 for $1.00. The prizes
are a small Christmas tree with $150 in scratch tickets on it and a larger Christmas tree with $300 in scratch tickets on
it. 100% of money raised by this fundraiser goes directly into the child's account.
- Entertainment books
- This is geared mostly for parents. These books are full of money saving coupons
in all different types of venues. The books are sold for $40 each, and the seller is credited with $20.00. Click below to

- Fudge! (new!)
- Pounds of fudge are pre-sold and ordered from the kids. Half of the money raised
goes toward the kids' account.
- Bowlers Bash
- This annual fundraiser takes place at the Amvets Hall on Primrose St.
In Heverhill, MA. It includes a wonderful buffet dinner catered by Frank Cloyd, dancing, door prizes, and raffles. The DJ
for this event is Glenn Kimball. Tickets are $20 each, or $35 per couple. Please come and enjoy a fun night out
while supporting the ICYBA and our trip to Canada. For tickets or more information please call (603) 382-9064 and ask for
Bart or send an e-mail to Andrew@icyba.org

- Rock 'N Bowl!
- February is the month for the annual "Rock 'N Bowl" fundraiser. This is a mandatory
event for ALL ICYBA members. This fundraiser includes raffles, a bake sale, bowling pin auction, and the famous "Beat
the Pro!" Over 20 professional bowlers volunteer their day to bowl at Pilgrim Lanes to help raise money for the ICYBA. Customers
pay $1.00 to bowl a box against a pro of their choice. The customer gets 3 balls, and the pro gets 1. If the customer wins,
they receive 8 raffle tickets for our HUGE raffle table. Around 50 prizes are donated for this raffle.
-
- We also have a HUGE bake sale at the Rock 'N Bowl. Donations of baked goods of
any kind would be GREATLY appreciated! For more information, please call 603-382-9064.
-
- Also on the schedule for the day is the "Strikes for Dollars", where all the
pros line up and try to throw strikes. We ask for donations for any strikes that are thrown. This is in addition to many other
wonderful, fun-filled events that take place.
-
Who could forget the famous "Grudge Match" featuring Mike Morin? This year,
Dick Lutsk is on assignment in PA, and will not be able to join us. We will miss Dick! However, the match must go on! There's
a new show "Candlepins for Dollars" and the host is Frank Mallicoat, FOX 25 News anchorman. Frank has challenged Mike
to a 1 string match. We don't think he knows what he is in for. (They will also be the emcees for the day!) This
one game match was heavily advertised on the show, and we need to gain the same support for it this year, despite
the cancellation of the old show. This has always been a much anticipated match, which generates a TON
of interest. Fans bet on who will win by putting monitary donations down. If their bowler wins, they receive tickets
to the raffle table. The number of tickets they receive depends on the amount they are willing to donate to bet on either
Mike or Frank! Just how confident are you? The more you bet/donate, the more tickets you get if you bet correctly!
-
100% of the donations and money raised at this event go DIRECTLY toward the
kids' fundraising effort. Make a day of it and bring the family down to Pilgrim Lanes and meet the pros, get autographs of
your favorite bowlers, and be a part of this wonderful event!
- Annual Youth/Pro Challenge Match
- Immediately following the Rock 'N Bowl is an exciting 3 game match between
Steve Renaud's All-Star Pros (goons) and Bart Maderios' All-Star Kids. The challenge: Bets will be welcome and will
be in the form of donations! All donations from this match will be split between the Candlepin for Kids TV show and the
Pilgrim Lanes ICYBA. This was a HUGE success last year as the pros finally came from behind to defeat the kids for the first
time in 4 years in a close match. Stick around after the Rock 'N Bowl for this exciting rematch!
